A grow log is your operational memory. Without it, every grow is a fresh start. With it, you build a personal feedback loop that compounds every season.
Minimum log fields: strain & breeder, germination date, current day (e.g. 'Day 18 veg' or 'Day 34 flower'), environment (temp, RH), what you did today, observations, photo if possible.
Useful additional fields: medium and pot size, light schedule and intensity, EC/pH if measuring, feed schedule, training events (topping, LST, defoliation), pest pressure, weather (outdoor).
Cadence. Daily entries in early/transition weeks (germination, transplant, switch-to-flower). Every 2–3 days otherwise. Always log: feed events, pest sightings, training, mistakes.
Where to log it. CannaForge has a built-in Grow Logs surface where collectors share their grows publicly or privately. Other options: a paper journal next to the tent (most reliable), spreadsheet, app of choice. Pick whatever you'll actually use.
After 2–3 grows of consistent logging, you'll see patterns — which strains love your environment, what your real cycle time is, where you waste effort. That's where serious craft begins.
