Cloning basics — getting to 90% success

   Take cuts from a healthy mother

   Mother plants kept in long veg under low-stress conditions produce strong cuts. Stressed mothers produce weak cuts.

   Cut at a 45°, just below a node

   Sharp, sterile blade. The fresh cut should not be exposed to air for more than 10 seconds.

   Dip and stick

   Cloning gel or powder, then directly into rooting cube (Rapid Rooter, Root Riot) or aeroponic cloner.

   High humidity, low light

   Dome at 80%+ RH, very gentle light. Don't feed until roots appear. Mist the inside of the dome, not the leaves.

   Wait

   Most cuts root in 7–14 days. Pull the dome gradually over 3 days once roots show.
