The notation

  • (Mother × Father) — a single cross. Mother is always first.
  • ((A × B) × C) — A and B were crossed, then that offspring was crossed with C.
  • (A × B) F2 — the F1 cross from A × B was sibling-crossed.
  • (A × B) BX1, BX2 — backcrossed to one parent, once or twice.
  • (A × B) S1 — A × B selfed.
