Hemp-derived breeding refers to the practice of incorporating genetics from industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa cultivars bred for fiber, seed, or low-THC content) into cannabis breeding programs. These crosses aim to introduce traits such as resilience, disease resistance, rapid growth cycles, or specific cannabinoid profiles inherited from hemp ancestry. Lineage records frequently report hemp genetics in modern CBD-dominant strains and in cultivars selected for structural vigor or environmental adaptation.
