Regional Selection refers to cannabis breeding practices where cultivars are developed and stabilized for specific geographic or climatic conditions. Rather than seeking universal adaptation, breeders using this approach intentionally select for traits that perform optimally in particular environments—altitude, humidity, photoperiod, pest pressure, or soil composition. Lineage records frequently report that many traditional landraces emerged through centuries of regional selection by indigenous growers.
